Sweden: Fryggestorp

· Sweden

The Fryggestorp stone sits atop its plinth in scenic woodland in Southern Smaland. It is located near a small road that leads from the town to the local church. This has given rise to the unusual situation whereby the majority of lifters have been locals traveling from the town to the church

Fryggestorp Stone on its plinth

Legend has it that the Fryggestorp stone was sometimes feather light and thus easy to lift. At other times it was very, very heavy and no man could lift it.

When visited by Ryan Stewart, Nic Whelan and Mark Prows recently, they estimated the stone to weigh around 80kg/180lb.
